According to a report published by The Chosun Daily, Kim Go-Eun, Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, and Yoo In-na will reunite to celebrate the 10th anniversary of “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” (also known as “Goblin”).
Aired in 2016, “Goblin” became the first cable drama to surpass a 20% viewership rating during its broadcast. Apart from being a cultural phenomenon in Korea, the show also garnered a massive following overseas.
Following its success, it received multiple awards, including Best Actor for Gong Yoo at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards and Best Couple at the 5th Annual DramaFever Awards.
Beyond the mainstream recognition of the show and its cast, the series’ original soundtrack (OST) also earned well-deserved accolades. These include the Outstanding Korean Drama OST Award at the 12th Seoul International Drama Awards and the Best OST Award at the 2nd Asia Artist Awards for Ailee’s “I Will Go to You Like the First Snow.”
Written by Kim Eun-sook, the genius behind popular K-Dramas “Descendants of the Sun,” “Mr. Sunshine,” and “The Glory,” “Goblin” revolves around an immortal Goblin named Kim Shin who seeks to end his eternal life. To do so, he must find his “Goblin Bride.” Then, he crosses paths with Ji Eun-tak, a bright and witty high-schooler who can see ghosts.
More details about the 10th anniversary special are yet to be announced.
