9 Places To Get Your Waffle Fix In Metro Manila

Let’s establish one thing: waffles are NOT pancakes. And if any of your friends insist otherwise, then you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. Not many understand the art that goes behind creating waffles that are perfectly golden, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. And while it can be difficult to look for places that serve these grid-ridden pieces of heaven, it’s not impossible. Here are nine places to get waffles in Manila, just the way you like them.

Single Origin

Single Origin

Single Origin prides itself on being a neighborhood café, with artisanal coffee and some comfort food favorites that seem well thought of. Try their blueberry and cream cheese waffles, with sweet blueberries and rich cream cheese on a bed of golden waffles.

Nothing really beats a classic: Pancake House’s Golden Brown Waffle lives up to its name. It has just the right crisp on the outside, and airy on the inside.

Cow & Chicken

A modern brunch place serving up Western and Filipino brunch fare with a twist, it’s clear that waffles are what creates this restaurant’s charm in Kapitolyo. The place can be a little tricky to find but finding it is well worth it. Their waffles have the perfect crisp-light balance, with a light buttery taste that goes well with either savory or sweet combinations. Try their signature dessert, Waffle S’mores, or the Valentine-famous Mangoes and Malagos Chocolate on Waffles. You can also get your waffles plain, but be sure to ask for their homemade lemon curd on the side.

Starbucks waffle

Starbucks is everywhere, and their belgian waffle is a good option for a quick waffle fix. Though a little denser than others, their waffle is packed with flavor and a rich, buttery texture. Strawberry or chocolate syrup and whipped cream add for decadence. Hooray for convenience!

UCC

UCC waffle

In all fairness to these big coffee chains, they offer a decent iteration of the waffle. UCC’s Plain Waffles are straightforward, crispy and buttery on the outside but packed on the inside.

It’s fluffy, buttery, and airy, and a good reminder of the streetside dessert in Hong Kong and Macau.
