11 Filipino Movies Inspired By Hollywood Movies

A lot of people have been talking about how ‘Alyas Robin Hood’ is eerily similar to ‘Arrow’ lately. However, what some people may be forgetting is that copying international material is pretty common here in the Philippines. In fact, the last three Filipino movies I watched were incredibly familiar.

“I feel like I’ve seen this before,” I whispered while watching ‘Just the Way You Are’ one night last year. “Don’t be silly. This is new,” my friend retorted as I narrated scene after scene almost to a tee. “She’s All That. 1999,” I explained. “I’ve never seen it,” he said. And apparently, a lot of other people haven’t seen it. It’s either vastly unpopular in this country or I’m just really old. The same goes for ‘Before Sunrise’, which is apparently quite similar to ‘That Thing Called Tadhana’ (I can’t really say because I admittedly haven’t seen the latter). So, after asking around, it seems like there’s a whole list of these.

(Please take note that I have not seen most of these movies, so I don’t actually know how similar they are. These are mere recommendations by friends.)
