Zsa Zsa Padilla has made many records and performed in countless concerts throughout the past decades, and even through her consistent presence on TV has made her music close to people’s hearts, then and now. Her upcoming concert, Totally Zsa Zsa!, will prove that her music transcends generations of music lovers.
At her concert on May 16th at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila, the Divine Diva hopes to sing her way to the hearts of millennials and Gen Zs as well. And surely, she will get a lot of help from her guests in entertaining the younger crowd. Her concert guest line-up includes her daughter Karylle, Hashtag member Zeus Collins, and heartthrob Ian Veneracion.
According to Zsa Zsa, she will have collab production numbers with her guests that will highlight new and old songs that are popular with everyone, regardless of age, from the so-called “titas of Manila” to the “bagets” and millennials. So expect some classics from old Hollywood films, perhaps disco songs, and of course OPM hits such as Zsa Zsa’s must-sing songs “Kahit Na” and “Hiram”, among others.
“Every generation has its own type of music that we can call our own. But it’s interesting that we are also influenced by the music of our parents’ generation and some of which were given a new lease of life by a newer version and remains popular to this day. That’s the beauty of music. It transcends generations,” Zsa Zsa says in a presscon for her concert.
Her special guest, Ian Veneracion, is expected to provide the “kilig” factor to the audience come May 16. Many would still remember Ian singing on primetime TV via the popular teleserye “A Love to Last”, which according him paved the way for his musical career.
“I have always loved music and I have been playing the piano and guitar. But it was only a few years ago when I used my voice as an instrument and I really enjoy singing now,” says Ian who staged his first-ever solo concert, “Ian in 3 Acts” in May last year at the Newport Performing Arts Theater as well.
in a concert tour in Canada with R&B singer Patti Austin.
Although he admits that he was “apprehensive at first” in being a singer, it seems Ian is now surely and seriously pursuing his musical career. He has a couple of original songs on Spotify. And he is performing with no less than Grammy award-winning R&B icon Patti Austin in “Soul & Heart” concert tour in Canada from April 26th to May 4th.
Zsa Zsa and Ian are excited to perform together for the first time in a concert. Zsa Zsa revealed that she has played Ian’s mother in the movie “Black Magic” starring Dolphy. Ian was only 12 years old then. The actor just turned 44 this year, while Zsa Zsa is turning 55 on May 28.
And since the Totally Zsa Zsa! concert will be held four days after Mother’s Day and on Zsa Zsa’s birthday month, we can expect some personal mother-daughter prod numbers from Zsa Zsa and Karylle, too. She cites that music runs in her family. Her other daughter, Zia Quizon, also sings. Zia’s boyfriend Robin Nievera (Martin Nievera’s son) also sings. And of course, Karylle’s husband is Sponge Cola’s frontman Yael Yuzon.
