Xian Lim is the lead actor in GMA’s newest prime-time show, “Hearts on Ice.” He will be acting alongside Ashley Ortega in her first lead role. Although it is not the actor’s first time pairing with a new leading lady, he still admitted in an interview that it was awkward at first.

“With Ashley, I think we, of course, merong ilangan kasi we had never met ever before we started this show,” Xian told The STAR. Prior to this statement, he also mentioned that a thespian stands out from the rest if they are able to create chemistry with any leading man/woman given to them. And that’s what motivates him to do his best to perform his role in the upcoming series. He said, “I see acting as a vessel, na kahit saan ako ilagay, dapat magampanan ko nang maayos yung proyekto.”
As part of his creative process, the actor even learned ice skating “from level zero” and eventually passed the Pre-Alpha-Delta proficiency test. This is because the story of “Hearts on Ice” centers on a figure-skater Ponggay (Ortega) who reconnects with her childhood friend Enzo (Lim).

He recalled, “I think it really helped that while I was having my training, she was also there training for her role. I guess natatawa na lang kami sa isa’t-isa kasi lagi akong nahuhulog sa yelo, siyempre masakit, it’s my first time, it’s very awkward for me. I think that’s how we [tried to] break the ice.”
“Hearts on Ice” premieres on March 13 at 8:50 pm on GMA.
