Classic children’s show Bananas in Pyjamas is returning in a live-action series, decades after it first aired. The new series will revisit Cuddles Avenue, where the banana twins navigate everyday adventures with music, imagination, and humor.

Producers say the reboot aims to maintain the original show’s tone while making it accessible to today’s preschool audience. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) confirmed that the project is part of a three-year government-funded initiative and is being developed with Windmill Production Company.
ABC Director of Screen Jennifer Collins noted that Bananas in Pyjamas has been a long-standing part of Australian children’s television, and the reboot provides an opportunity for a new generation of viewers to engage with the series.
Looking at the show’s history, its episodes often highlight simple but enduring ideas. The banana twins’ adventures show children the value of friendship and teamwork as they help each other and their neighbors with everyday challenges.
Curiosity and imagination play a central role, encouraging young viewers to explore and think creatively about the world around them. Alongside the fun and music, many episodes weave in lessons about sharing, patience, and kindness in ways that feel natural rather than forced.
Bananas in Pyjamas began as a song on Play School in the 1970s before becoming a full television series in 1992. It reached audiences internationally, including a Filipino dub in the Philippines in the late 1990s.
