Kristen Stewart isn’t closing the door on Twilight just yet. She’s just imagining herself in a different role this time.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress shared that she’s open to the idea of directing a remake of the hit vampire romance franchise, which originally launched her into global stardom. According to Stewart, the thought of revisiting the story for a new audience feels interesting, especially given how much the original films meant to her creatively.
She spoke fondly of the directors behind the franchise, including Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz, saying she appreciated how personal and distinct their approaches were at the time. For Stewart, part of the charm was that everyone involved was still figuring things out, long before the series became a full-blown pop culture phenomenon.
Stewart also floated the idea of what a remake could look like with more resources. With a bigger budget and strong creative support, she said she’d be open to re-adapting the story—and even joked that she’s “committed” if the opportunity ever comes up.
The Twilight film series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels, began in 2008 and went on to release four sequels, earning over $3.36 billion worldwide. The story follows Bella Swan, a teenager who moves to Forks, Washington, and falls in love with Edward Cullen, a vampire with a secret.
Interest in the franchise has resurfaced in recent years. Lionsgate has announced plans for an animated adaptation, while Netflix has greenlit an animated series based on Midnight Sun, which retells the original story from Edward’s perspective.
Outside of Twilight, Stewart has starred in films like Charlie’s Angels, Underwater, and Snow White and the Huntsman. She has also stepped behind the camera, with The Chronology of Water marking her directorial debut. Whether a Twilight remake happens or not, Stewart’s openness to the idea has fans talking all over again.
