Here’s What BTS Has to Say About the Philippines

Only a couple of hours have passed since Smart released its long-awaited “Live Your Passion with Purpose” campaign headlined by the world’s leading pop icon, BTS, but we’re sure you’ve already seen the commercial by now. The video already has more than 230,000 views, after all. In case you haven’t, though, here it is:

Shot in Seoul at the height of the global lockdown, the campaign is set to two of the band’s most recent hits—the inspirational Life Goes On followed by the record-breaking hit Dynamite—appropriately providing the score to a timely and encouraging message to Filipino ARMY during the Philippines’ most challenging time.

The TVC has the seven BTS members walking up and down seven iterations of The Penrose Stairs—symbolic of defying impossible situations—bearing wise and powerful words that defy all of life’s challenges.

“As the leading digital services provider in these crucial times, we at Smart are committed more than ever to make it simple and easy for Filipinos to go all out on their passions and fulfill their purpose,” says Alfredo S. Panlilio, Smart President and CEO.

Shooting the campaign also conjured up memories of the groups’ previous visits to the Philippines, mostly during their early years. RM expressed that he would love to return “to hear the cheers of ARMYs in the Philippines”. Jin chimes in on how great the Philippines is as a country and expressed interest in going on vacation here sometime. Suga raved about Filipino basketball and how passionate Filipinos are about the sport. He even shared that he occasionally watches professional Philippine basketball and really enjoys watching it nowadays, adding that “the level is very high”.

J-Hope expressed that he loves the Philippines, giving special mention to our delicious Filipino food. Jimin let us know that they know how many messages Filipino ARMYs send them on social media and how many covers, choreos, and challenges Filipino fans make of their songs. V chimed in to say that he has heard that there are a lot of ARMYs in the Philippines and that he would like to meet us all as soon as possible. Jungkook adds that he is grateful for all of the ARMYs and their support

Given the pandemic and the boys’ busy schedule, however, Smart says this might not be possible anytime soon, though they definitely hope to make it happen sometime in the future. Fingers crossed!
