The second trailer was released last Tuesday, May 28 and it beautifully showcases the amazing creations of Shinkai and animation studio, CoMix Wave. The trailers feature RADWIMPS, a popular Japanese band that also made the original soundtrack for Kimi no Na wa.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“The summer of his high school freshman year, Hokoda runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo and quickly finds himself pushed to his financial and personal limits.

“The weather is unusually gloomy and rainy every day as if to suggest his future. He lives his days in isolation, but finally finds work as a writer for a mysterious occult magazine.

“Then one day, Hokoda meets Hina on a busy street corner. This bright and strongwilled girl possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky.”

Since 2016, this will be Shinkai’s first movie after his global hit “Kimi no Na wa” which was declared as the highest-grossing animated movie in the Philippines to date. In Japan, it has also surpassed Hayao Miyazaki’s internationally-renowned fantasy and adventure animated film Spirited Away.

It is confirmed that there will be a worldwide release for “Tenki No Ko: Weathering With You“, although there have not been announcements from movie distributors in the Philippines on when it will be premiered in local theaters.
