It’s scary how often road rage happens, and it’s scary how those who get affected by it have guns. Thankfully, the rise of CCTVs and social media has made it easier to share this kind of information and to make sure that suspects pay the price for their temper.
A new CCTV footage is spreading around social media showing an SUV driver who gets down from his Mitsubishi Montero and attacking two police officers in East Kamias, Quezon City, after he was stopped for a traffic violation.
Simplicio Retirado, 60 years old, and Raul Mercado, 35 years old, stopped the driver for entering a one-way street. When they pulled him over, the driver rolled down the window and pushed Retirado. He and his companion then went down and aimed guns at the two officers. The driver attacked Retirado, then aimed his gun at Mercado before kicking and punching him. After the attack, they got into the car and sped away.
Luckily, a CCTV was able to capture the incident. The authorities are now working with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to identify the driver of the vehicle, with the plate number UJQ 889.
