Scarlet Snow Belo got to try balut for the first time ever!
As seen on her Instagram page, the 7-year-old gamely tried a bite of the Filipino delicacy, which is a boiled fertilized duck egg with a developing embryo, with the encouragement of her father, Dr. Hayden Kho.
Though she was hesitant at first, she was able to eat a small portion and said “Yum!” with a big smile on her face. “You too, you should try it,” she told another child who was not in the frame of the video.
Hayden then asked Scarlet to take another bite which she did. She also didn’t seem to be grossed out at all by the duck embryo.
Meanwhile, Scarlet’s mother Vicki Belo commented on the post assuring her daughter that balut is good for her health.
“That’s so healthy scarlet snow,” she wrote.
