The trailer for Antoinette Jadaone’s new thriller film is finally here and it’s seriously giving us the creeps.
The film, titled “Fan Girl,” follows a young superfan (played by rising young actress Charlie Dizon) obsessed with her idol who eventually uncovers a horrifying truth about him after sneaking into his house.
The idol is none other than Paulo Avelino who is shockingly playing himself, thus blurring the lines between what’s real and what isn’t to the audience.
“Never meet your heroes,” the trailer warns, as it reveals disturbing scenes of Paulo smoking, drinking beer, and physically expressing anger around his 16-year-old captive, who steadily comes to regret her foolish infatuation.

“Fan Girl” was also selected to be among the 32 films showing in the Tokyo International Film Festival‘s new Tokyo Premiere 2020 section, which is described to be the combined version of the festival’s three traditional main sections: competition, Asian Future, and Japanese Cinema.
It is the only Filipino film chosen for the selection. It also stands a chance to win the festival’s only award for the year: the Audience Award. The festival will run from October 31 to November 9.
