Pixar is officially releasing its new “Monsters Inc.” spinoff television series this year!
Titled “Monsters At Work,” the new show reportedly will pick up where the original movie left off, which is after Sully (voiced by John Goodman) and Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) revamped their place of work from being a company that scares children to one that makes them laugh.
The official synopsis reads:
“Monsters At Work” takes place the day after the Monsters Inc. power plant started harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams. It follows the story of Tylor Tuskmon, an eager young monster who graduated top of his class at Monsters University and always dreamed of becoming a Scarer until he lands a job at Monsters Inc., and discovers that scaring is out and laughter is in. After Tylor is temporarily reassigned to the Monsters Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT), he must work alongside a misfit bunch of mechanics while setting his sights on becoming a Jokester.
Included in the new cast are Ben Feldman of “Superstore” who will be voicing the main character Tylor, Mindy Kaling, Henry Winkler, Bonnie Hunt, Lucas Neff, Alanna Ubach, John Ratzenberger, Jennifer Tilly, Bob Peterson, Stephen Stanton, and Aisha Tyler. Goodman and Crystal will also make brief appearances in the show.
The series was supposed to premiere in 2020 but was pushed back to 2021 and it’s going to be released on the Disney+ streaming platform.
Disney just posted the official trailer of the movie too. Watch it below!
“Monsters At Work” will premiere on July 2, 2021.
