WATCH: Mom finally meets newborn son after surviving COVID-19

A 36-year-old woman in New York meets her newborn son for the first time after she recovers from COVID-19.

According to Northwell Health, Yarina Soriano tested positive for pneumonia and COVID-19 while she was in her third semester of pregnancy. With this, she had to be put on a ventilator and undergo an emergency cesarean section.

Dr. Benjamin Schwartz, chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southside Hospital said, “She was not awake when her baby was born and did not hear the baby cry or have any opportunity to meet him right after his birth.”

After giving birth, Soriano remained intubated in the ICU for almost two weeks. After 12 days, she finally meets her son, Walter. The hospital staff cheered her on during this heartwarming event. Both Waler and Yarina Soriano are now healthy and doing well.
