On January 24, Baguio Country Club shared photos of its sakura trees finally blooming—much to the delight of locals and netizens.

“After seven years of careful nurturing, one of the sakura trees at Baguio Country Club has finally bloomed. Encouraged by Baguio’s cool climate, similar to the conditions sakura trees need to thrive, its delicate blossoms have quietly emerged, marking a rare and meaningful moment,” it wrote.

It added, “Sakura trees are known to take years before flowering, making this first bloom a true testament to patience, nature, and time. A fleeting yet beautiful reminder that some of the most rewarding sights are worth the wait.”

According to the club, the sakura trees were donated by Japanese nationals Shinji Okomora and Shigeru Tsunashima, along with BCC member Paz Suzuki, in June 2018 and May 2019.

Cherry blossoms are famous for their short but breathtaking bloom, drawing tourists to Japan during peak sakura season.

For those planning to travel to Japan, the Japan Meteorological Corporation (JMC) has announced that cherry blossoms in 2026 are expected to begin blooming as early as March 19 in Nagoya, with the season lasting until May 1 in Sapporo.

However, for those who don’t have a Japan visa yet, you can visit places like Atok in Benguet, as well as Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam to witness sakura experiences during the spring season.
