Vilma Santos-Recto is ready to make her much-awaited return to showbiz after dedicating more than two decades in public office.
In an Instagram post, the veteran actress shared the great news to fans and friends that she will be starring in her comeback film to be helmed by award-winning director Erik Matti (“On The Job,” “BuyBust”). Also with them in the photo was film producer Dondon Monteverde.
“Had a lunch meeting with Direk [Erik Matti] and [Dondon Monteverde]. EXCITING!!!” she wrote on her post.

“Ninang! Excited to start our projects with you. Thanks again for lunch,” Dondon said in reply.
Meanwhile, Erik made a separate post on his Instagram account to confirm the news of his new project.
“I’ve worked with [Vilma Santos] in a few commercials but I’ve always wished to do a movie with the Philippine film industry’s most iconic star for all seasons. We will be developing two projects with her and after hearing the stories, Ate Vi gave it a nod. A very happy, excited nod. So excited!!! Woooottt!!!” he gushed.

Vilma earlier shared that she hopes to come back to showbiz as she approaches her 60th year in the industry. She did not run for the 2022 elections, after serving as Lipa mayor, Batangas governor, and Lipa representative for the past 23 years.
Her last movie was the drama film “Everything About Her” back in 2016.
