Atty. Jiecel Tiu filing a case of frustrated murder against Pearl Ungab
Now this is something that doesn’t happen every day.
It was reported that Ronda, Cebu Vice-Mayor John Ungab’s wife allegedly hit his “mistress” with a baseball bat.
Lawyer Jiecel Tiu claimed that Pearl Ungab hit her with a baseball bat after being accused of having an affair with Pearl’s husband. This claim was corroborated by a street vendor, who said he saw Pearl hit Tiu’s car with a bat, and hit her next. The alleged incident occured at Cogon Ramos Street.
The seven-weeks pregnant Pearl is currently under hospital arrest at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Center.
However, Pearl is denying that she attacked Tiu. According to her:
Those who saw the actual confrontation between me and Atty. (Jiecel) Tiu will think I was the villain based on how I reacted. But what they did not see was the incident (minutes) before that. What would be your reaction if your son was purposely bumped by a vehicle? Would you just smile? It’s a mother’s instinct to protect her child. We were supposed to be victims in this case. How come, I’m the one being detained now?
Based on her story, she saw the attorney on her way to meet a friend. She wanted to “peacefully” talk about the issue, but Atty. Tiu insulted her, saying “There’s nothing we ought to talk about. What for? Your family is already ruined.” That was when the attorney pepper sprayed her. As Pearl moved away, the attorney tried to leave, hitting Pearl and her child as she drove backwards.
Pearl decided to follow Atty. Tiu to confront her. According to Pearl, the attorney pepper sprayed her again. That’s when she went back to her car, got the baseball bat, and smashed it against the vehicle’s window.
Pearl showed the bruises on her left stomach which she said she got after Tiu bumped her. Her eyes have been treated after it got hit by the pepper spray.
She confirmed that she hit the lawyer’s car, but not the lawyer. She also said that she forgave her husband because she loves her husband “so much.” She said:
The problem is this Atty. (Jiecel) Tiu. She destroyed our family and put us all to shame. As much as possible, I don’t want to drag my husband in this issue but Atty. Tiu just humiliated him.
Atty. Tiu is denying that she is having an affair with the vice mayor. She said that she used to work for the same law firm as John Ungab, but she left because Pearl “kept on following me. She has been fabricating stories and evidence against me although she never caught me having an affair with her husband because that is really not the case.”
In a weird twist of events, it was revealed that Atty. Tiu is a friend of Pearl’s. The attorney is a godmother to one of Pearl’s children.
Vice Mayor Ungab said that “As much as possible, I want to hold my silence to protect further damage this issue may bring to all parties especially to my children.”
The Cebu City prosecutor said that Pearl will not file a counter-affidavit, which means that a decision regarding the case will be released by Wednesday. Vice-Mayor Ungab has sent P200,000 in cash for his wife’s bail.
