UST UNESCO Club Revives Legacy with SDG Week 2025

In a powerful return to tradition and advocacy, the UST UNESCO Club proudly launched SDG Week 2025, a vibrant five-day celebration of sustainability, learning, and cultural awareness, held from April 25 to April 30, 2025, at the University of Santo Tomas, Sampaloc, Manila. This historic event not only commemorated the Club’s 20th anniversary but also revived the pre-pandemic UST UNESCO Club Convention, bringing Thomasians and partner institutions together under the banner of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As an accredited organization under the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines, the UST UNESCO Club has long been a stalwart advocate of cultural awareness, education, and community development, fostering a sense of nationalism and empathy through impactful initiatives and programs. SDG Week 2025 reignited the spirit of collaboration, sustainability, and education, offering a rich variety of exhibits, workshops, film viewings, and community engagements. More than just a celebration, it was a call to action—a bridge between the past and future. It reaffirmed the Club’s long-standing mission to empower youth, foster partnerships, and promote meaningful dialogue in shaping a more just, informed, and sustainable world.

SDG WEEK MAIN POSTER

This year’s SDG Week delivered a unique experience that brought together the Thomasian community, all working toward the same goal—making a positive impact on the world. With a wide array of exciting activities lined up, this week-long event gave participants the chance to engage in meaningful discussions, learn from experts, and even take part in hands-on activities that inspired change. Whether one sought to deepen their understanding of sustainability, engage with passionate individuals, or simply be inspired, SDG Week 2025 promised an array of activities for everyone.

The journey began with dynamic exhibits that transported attendees through stories of heritage, innovation, and future possibilities. The workshops offered an interactive and hands-on approach to exploring the many dimensions of the SDGs. Whether it was discovering new ways to promote language diversity or learning about the role of youth in tackling climate change, each workshop was designed to empower participants with the knowledge and tools to make a real-world impact. Film viewings brought stories to life, sparking important conversations about social justice, environmental conservation, and community development. These events were meant not only to entertain but also to ignite a passion for change, creating a platform for thoughtful dialogue and engagement.

To commemorate their journey through SDG Week, attendees were invited to purchase exclusive, limited-edition merchandise. These items were more than just stylish—they represented a commitment to SDG Week’s values. Proceeds supported the Club’s future initiatives, so each purchase contributed to a greater cause. Attendees wore their support for sustainability, cultural awareness, and social justice with pride.

SDG Week was not just for the eco-conscious or those already immersed in sustainability work—it was for anyone who wanted to make a difference. Whether it was learning about the issues that matter, getting inspired to act, or meeting others who shared a vision of a better world, it was a celebration of unity, action, and collaboration. It was for every student who believed they could contribute to something bigger than themselves, no matter how small the step. Alongside thought-provoking activities, SDG Week 2025 offered a unique opportunity for personal growth and networking. Participants connected with peers across disciplines, shared ideas with advocates, and became part of a global conversation about our future. There was no better way to spend the week than by exploring the intersection of culture, sustainability, and community.
