Most people picture Maginhawa Street in Quezon City as a place for hangouts and good food. The street is packed with restaurants that offer a dining experience away from the busy aisles of shopping malls, overcrowded diners, and endlessly long queues. It’s also conveniently located near prominent universities and high schools, which ensure that students flock the area to find budget-friendly meals. With so many places to eat, though, some lucky food finds may be left undiscovered. Where can students find a place with affordable meals and comfort food, for example? One example is Urban Chick Resto.
Owned by Jerecel Catherine Guiang, the restaurant is a popular hangout place amongst students. The quaint little joint features large tables and benches that are perfect for a barkada bonding experience. Guiang narrates that the inspiration for Urban Chick‘s hip and trendy vibe is the idea of “young girls going out.”
“The food and the experience our restaurant offers was inspired by the dining experiences I had while hanging out with my childhood friends. We ate pasta, burgers, and BBQ’s together. That’s why our restaurant provides everything you may have eaten when you were young,” she says.
Guiang says that Urban Chick is meant for students and their families. That is probably why her restaurant offers budget-friendly meals.
One perfect example is the restaurant’s Platter Overload (P550), which offers 1 piece of chicken barbeque, 1 piece of ribs, 2 pieces of pork liempo, 2 pieces of wings, 1 pasta, 3 barbeque rice, 2 sides, 1 pancake and 1 glass iced tea. With so many meals to choose from, the set meal has become a popular order among students and their families.
The barbeque fried chicken is served with a sauce that balances the flavor of the dish. It also comes with various mouth-watering meaty dishes, such as ribs, pork liempo and chicken wings combined with a huge helping of barbeque rice. With so many meals to choose from, the set meal has become a popular order among students and their families. If that’s not enough, then you can also enjoy their fluffy pancakes and diverse side dishes!
Urban Chick is definitely the place for affordable food. Make sure to visit for a unique barkada bonding experience.
