UPDATE: Owner Clarifies 5,000 Bag Order from Pope Francis for Papal Visit

Pope Francis Orders 5,000 Bags From Livelihood Project for Visit

This morning, WhenInManila.com reported about a ‘Pope bag’ that was reportedly liked by Pope Francis himself, who personally ordered 5,000 bags. According to the source (a lifestyle magazine), half were already delivered to the Vatican, and the other half will be picked up during his arrival this week. But the thing is, it isn’t true. Kind of.

This writer spoke with Lulu Trinidad-Ocampo, a gentle 75 year old woman who accommodated this writer late in the evening. She is also the founder of D’Yario bags, the producer of the accessory in question. At first, the writer was speaking to the daughter, but she felt that her mother had to correct the issue right away.

According to Ms. Lulu, there was an order 0f 2,500 bags, and it did come from the Vatican, but it did not come from the Pope. This happened even before the Papal Visit was announced. Somehow, things got mixed up and the wrong information was given to the lifestyle magazine.

One of those excited for the Papal Visit is D’Yario bags, a community livelihood project by Ms. Lulu and her sister, Mila Trinidad-Puyat. Ms. Lulu wanted to correct the issue right away. She also said that there are no more Pope bags available

The countdown to the Papal Visit begins, and everyone’s excited to see Pope Francis. A visual artist already painted the Pope with a couple of Filipino celebrities, the Cebu inmates have prepared a dance number, and a custom-made Papal jeepney was built. Even government officials and brands have joined in on the fun, by posting welcome banners with their names on it.
