Cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular by the day and Bitcoin is without a doubt the best known one of them all. To get even more people into using it, Makati-based technology wizards Satoshi Citadel have come up with Bitstars, a new website that gives away Bitcoin prizes for posting and liking selfies.

Once you have logged in to the site via Instagram or Facebook, you will see four different ways to earn Bitcoin. The first is to upload a selfie and win the daily contest by having the most likes.
Depending on how many selfies have been submitted, this can net you the Bitcoin equivalent of up to ₱500. The second way is getting Bitcoin tips from fans of your selfie, while suggesting someone else’s selfie and receiving a bounty when that person signs up to claim their photo is the third option to net you some crypto-coin.
The fourth and newest option is also by far the easiest: Bitstars now gives you small amounts of Bitcoin just for voting for other people’s selfies. Each time you like one of today’s photos, you will get a small bonus of 500 Satoshis (0.000005 BTC), up to a maximum of 10,000 Satoshis per day.

By using Bitstars to drive Bitcoin adoption in the Philippines, SCI is simply trying to create a larger pool of customers for its other Bitcoin based ventures. It’s already possible for OFWs to remit funds using Bitcoin via Rebit, while SCI’s Bitcoin payment platform Bitmarket is also doing well.
