TikTok’s Newest Beauty Challenge Is a Throwback to 2000s Pinay Glam

If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you might have noticed a surge of Filipina beauty transformations set to a familiar 2000s beat. The bebot trend is the latest viral moment turning everyday looks into full-glam makeovers—and it’s making nostalgia feel new again.

The trend draws inspiration from “Bebot,” a 2006 track by the Black Eyed Peas, which also includes the Fil-Am singer apl.de.ap. Sung entirely in Filipino, the song celebrates Pinay beauty while reflecting on the Filipino-American experience.

Its music video, set at a lively Fil-Am party, showcased mid-2000s style, family, and culture—a backdrop that now informs the aesthetics of the TikTok trend.

TikTok users began pairing the song with “before-and-after” makeup clips, creating fast, satisfying transformations. The term bebot itself is slang for a pretty woman, and creators have used it to highlight their takes on modern Pinay glam.

Influencers and celebrities alike—including Sue Ramirez and Gabbi Garcia—have shared their own versions, making the trend feel both accessible and aspirational.

Makeup artists describe the style as “bold but fun,” focusing on bronzed skin, contouring, and smoky eyes with a pop of color. The end result is polished yet playful, celebrating Filipino features in a distinctly contemporary way.
