Beauty pageant Binibining Pilipinas announced that it will be indefinitely postponing this year’s event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a statement released by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), this in support of the government’s quarantine restrictions and efforts to curb the virus. The statement reads, “BPCI recognizes the pressing and urgent need to protect the health and safety of the candidates, their families and friends, all the passionate pageant supporters, and the general public.”

With this, they have decided to reschedule the said pageant and its activities. “Our plans to reschedule the pageant activities shall depend on guidelines and regulations that will be issued by the government in the coming months,” said BPCI.
Binibining Pilipinas 2020 was originally set to happen this Sunday, May 31 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
