The Rose’s Rosetopia Manila Concert: A Night of Pure Magic (and Heartbreak)

For Filipino Black Roses, the SM Mall of Asia Arena transformed into a bittersweet sanctuary during The Rose’s Rosetopia Manila concert, brought to us by L-Squared Productions. Bringing together stunning visuals, breathtaking artistry, and a heavy dose of raw emotion; the Rosetopia Manila concert was a masterclass in why this alternative-rock band has captured hearts across the globe.

The magic of the Rosetopia Manila concert began long before the main lights dimmed. During the pre-show soundcheck, Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon, and Taegyeom, went above and beyond to give fans an unforgettable experience. They showered the crowd with an incredible amount of fan service, turning an ordinary soundcheck into an intimate, interactive memory. At one point, the members even sang directly with a lucky Black Rose, setting a deeply, personal, and joyous tone for the rest of the evening:

When the Rosetopia Manila concert officially kicked off, the production was nothing short of breathtaking. Every visual cue, lighting shift, and soaring instrumental arrangement created an immersive world true to the Rosetopia name:

The members didn’t just stay glued to the stage either. Throughout the night, they broke past the boundaries, walking down closer to the crowd to take photos, lock eyes, and sing directly to the fans who had supported them through thick and thin.

And, in a fittingly poetic nod to their name, the band made sure the night ended on an iconic note by throwing roses out to the audience at the end of their concert:

Beneath the electrifying energy and soaring vocals of hits like “Back to Me,” “RED,” and “Sorry”, however, lingered a heavy, shared grief amongst us. With the band preparing to step away for an indefinite hiatus, every lyric carried an extra layer of permanence. Fans and members alike felt the profound sadness of the impending break. Knowing that this would be their last major gathering in Manila for a while made every chorus feel heavier, letting tears fall every now and then during moments of celebration and sing-alongs.

I know I, for one, am going to miss The Rose’s music immensely: the distinct blend of their comforting lyricism, Woosung’s raspy yet soulful vocals, Dojoon’s rich melodies, Hajoon’s driving percussion, and Taegyeom’s magnetic basslines. Their discography has been a safe space for me for the past decade, a companion through quiet nights and loud celebrations, and the thought of an empty space where their new releases used to be is daunting.

I gotta keep reminding myself that this truly isn’t a permanent goodbye, just an intermission, and of course, I will be cheering on our men as they explore their other dreams, but I will also hold onto the memory of Rosetopia Manila tightly until we all bloom together once more.

This unforgettable final-for-now chapter would not have been possible without L-Squared Productions, who brought us the Rosetopia Manila concert and gave Filipino Black Roses one last, glorious evening to create memories with the band before they take a well-deserved moment to breathe, grow, and find themselves again. Thank you for not just such a beautiful production but also for taking very good care of us during the media con. 🙂
