The Hilarious Original Musical Parody of 50 Shades of Grey is coming to Manila!

For someone who hasn’t seen nor watched the movie like me, the musical parody sounds interesting, right? Because, if the story revolves in the characters’ sensual and sexual activities, how are they going to do it?

Well, I just got served, 50 Shades The Musical Parody, is by far, the most hilarious play I’ve ever seen!

Although, I have no idea about the movie nor the book, I already had an idea based on the stories and reviews available online. It’s about, you know… (wink wink).

50 Shades of Grey Musical Parody

So, for the benefit of everyone, the 50 Shades of Grey is a best-seller novel by E.L. James and has sold over 125 million copies worldwide. The movie received mixed reactions globally but became a controversial yet a blockbuster movie of 2015, nevertheless. The story revolves around Christian Grey, a successful and wealthy entrepreneur and Anastasia “Ana” Steele is a 21-year-old college senior attending Washington State University.

The two became sensual and sexual after Ana interviewed Mr. Grey.

The Musical Parody

The musical opens with a ladies book club deciding to read Fifty Shades of Grey. Through their interpretation of the novel, the audience is led on a hilarious roller coaster ride of this unlikely best-seller. The show is full of dance numbers, 11 original songs and a live band backing the performance.

Original songs include “How Much Can I Take?”, “I Don’t Make Love”, and “There’s a Hole Inside of Me”.

Like the book series, 50 SHADES! The Musical Parody is definitely for ADULTS only! Only 18 years old and above can watch this exceptional musical.

But, it doesn’t cross boundaries that would make general audiences squirm. Moreover, it doesn’t really affect our Filipino culture, as well as, being a catholic country. (Besides, the main role’s name is Christian, right?)

Now it’s Manila’s turn to experience this smash hit show that has toured all over US and Canada and has been produced in several other countries including UK, Australia and China. The Cast

Featured in the company is a mix of international Thespians, including performers from the Off-Broadway and Las Vegas productions of 50 Shades! The Musical Parody, plus some homegrown stage and screen talents. Leading the foreign artists are Brenna Wahl, Greg Kata, Chloe Williamson, Kaitlyn Frotton, Chris Hodgson, Casey Renee Rogers, and Isaac Saleh. Joining the cast are seasoned Filipino theatre stars Bituin Escalante, Karel Marquez, Lorenz Martinez, George Schulze, and Julz Savard.

Now that we became a web-centric world, everyone is quick to judge. And, there are a lot of materials and write-ups we come across on social media that can lower our self-esteem. Therefore, we eventually become a “social prisoner.” While the show is explicitly sexual, it boils down to loving yourself first unconditionally. The show will teach you how to love yourself and conquer the fear of being more “intimate.”
