Team Malaya Hosts Half Marathon to Support The Reopening of Revitalized Hinulugang Taktak

Team Malaya invites the whole running community to join the first ever Antipolo Fiesta Half Marathon on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Race village will be at the famed Hinulugang Taktak which will be open as early as 3:00 a.m. while the race route will mainly feature the scenic stretch of Sumulong Highway. Participants can register online at https://teammalaya.org/afhm.

Presented by the Antipolo City Government in partnership with Team Malaya and co-presented by Decathlon, Antipolo Fiesta Half Marathon will benefit the ongoing rehabilitation of Hinulugang Taktak Nature & Adventure Park. Distances include 21K, 12K, 7K and 3K. Runners will receive an official event singlet, bib and medal (plus finisher shirts for 21K and 12K). Prizes will be awarded to podium finishers as well as individuals and teams who qualify for certain special categories.

Happening on the weekend of the city’s annual festival, participants and guests are encouraged to bring their town fiesta vibes to the famous falls. Entertainment will be provided by no less than the Antipolo City Band, among other local talents. Post-race snacks, sponsor-filled goodie bags, raffle prizes and other surprises are also up for grabs during the program.

“This is now our second time to host a race in my beloved hometown,” said Nico Navarro, Race Organizer of AFHM. “As with our pre-pandemic event from years back, we chose to feature Hinulugang Taktak once more since it is one of the city’s major tourist spots–especially now that it has reopened to the public with many new attractions for people to enjoy.” He adds, “As a runner myself, I am also equally excited with the race route since those who are familiar with this stretch of road knows that it can be quite beautiful yet arduous at the same time. Runners who are down for a decent uphill challenge should look forward to it.”

Mark Arceno, Sports Leader at Decathlon Masinag agrees by saying, “We are happy to be part of this prestigious event where tourism and culture are featured front and center. This is just proof of how abundant and beautiful Antipolo City is. Right from the start, we already know this event will be a success because for us at Decathlon ‘Sports for Every Juan’ is our mission.”
