In celebration of the 2026 National Nutrition Month, the Philippine Association of Nutrition – Alpha Omega Chapter (PAN-AO) of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) will conduct PANatag na Kalusugan: Mula sa Kalikasan Tungong Hapagkainan on July 18, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the Covered Court of Barangay Tuntungin Putho, Los Baños, Laguna. The community service initiative seeks to strengthen household nutrition security by equipping low-income families with practical knowledge and skills on healthy, affordable, and environmentally sustainable food practices.

Aligned with the 2026 National Nutrition Month sub-theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!”, the project recognizes the growing need to address the challenges of food insecurity, household budgeting, and environmental sustainability. The activity is designed primarily for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), particularly household members responsible for meal preparation, acknowledging their vital role in improving family nutrition through informed food choices and resource management.
Participants will engage in two interactive learning sessions that translate nutrition concepts into practical household applications. The first session, “Wais sa Badyet, Wais sa Hapag,” will introduce strategies for practical food budgeting and food waste management, helping families maximize limited resources while minimizing unnecessary food loss. The second session, “Likas-Kayang Pinggan, Makakalikasang Hapagkainan,” will focus on Climate-Smart Pinggang Pinoy principles and culminate in a live cooking demonstration showcasing affordable, nutritious, and sustainable recipes using locally available ingredients. Through these sessions, participants are expected to gain practical skills in meal planning, responsible food consumption, and sustainable dietary practices that they can readily apply in their homes.
Beyond providing nutrition education, PANatag na Kalusugan reflects PAN-AO’s commitment to community empowerment through evidence-based and service-oriented initiatives. By emphasizing prevention, household resilience, and sustainability, the organization hopes to demonstrate that improving nutrition begins not only with access to food but also with informed decision-making, responsible resource management, and community collaboration.
The initiative also supports national efforts to promote sustainable food systems and healthier communities, reinforcing the message that every household can contribute to better nutrition outcomes and environmental stewardship.
As the leading nutrition-based student organization at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, PAN-AO continues to advance its mission of promoting nutrition education, food security, public health, leadership, and community engagement through meaningful community service initiatives. With the support of partner organizations, sponsors, local government units, and community stakeholders, the organization remains committed to its vision of creating healthier, more resilient Filipino communities.
