Sunrise Oven’s Fudgy Brownie Basque Burnt Cheesecake is a deliciously different take on the highly trending dessert. It is the brainchild of home baker and mother of two, Sophia Cocuaco-Barrido, who wanted to stand out among the many small local businesses popping up week after week this quarantine period.
“I wanted to come up with something relatively unique knowing that there are a lot of very capable and talented bakers out there. If this business should become a hit, I wanted the brand to have one anchor product that it will be remembered for,” Sophia shared with When In Manila. “A friend suggested that I try putting together the brownie base and the burnt cheesecake and so I tried. And so, my Fudgy Brownie Basque Burnt Cheesecake was born!”
Being a self-certified cheesecake lover, I was so excited to try it the moment it arrived on my doorstep. At first, I only took a small slice, wary about the brownie crust overpowering the rest of the cake.
But surprise, surprise: it didn’t! I’m not exaggerating when I say that my eyes immediately lit up after one bite. The cheesecake itself is so light and airy with an addicting soft and creamy texture that it melted in my mouth before introducing the rich brownie base—chewy, not dry at all, and, most importantly, just the right amount of sweetness!
I couldn’t resist eating a quarter of its 6-inch goodness in one go and, nope, I’m not ashamed to say so.
Suffice it to say that Sunrise Oven’s Fudgy Brownie Basque Burnt Cheesecake is a true game-changer that I won’t mind having a slice of every day.
