Where to Stay: PRIVATO Hotel

Shaw Boulevard is traffic hell on Earth. People not only have to contend with cars, jeeps, and trucks going to Kapitolyo, but will have to do so once on their way home.

Upgrade your Kapitolyo food trip to a staycation at Privato Hotel. Privato is ideally located along Shaw Boulevard, a short walk away from Kapitolyo landmarks as Capitol Commons, Estancia Mall, and the gate of Brgy Kapitolyo. It’s literally a walk away from the restaurants in the residential area of Kapitolyo, and maybe a trike away from the industrial side where Locavore is located.

With starting rates below 3,000 pesos per night, Privato is perfect for an inexpensive respite from the daily routine of office or housework. We booked our stay two weeks ago, and the place was teeming with families who were enjoying the child-friendly shallow pool at the roof deck, and friends who were using Privato as their base camp for exploring the Kapitolyo area.

I love how Privato is simple and elegant yet chic and stylish at the same time. The design is minimalist; everything is in shades of black, white, or metal. The rooms are straightforward and functional, with their best features being the luxuriously soft, comfortable beds and elephant showers. There’s also a small fridge to store take homes from your food trip, and complimentary wifi to continue with work (I’m a workaholic) or post photos of your food trip on social media the soonest possible time!

Where to Drink: TIPSY PIG Gastropub

There is no shortage of watering holes in Kapitolyo, but none as prominent as Tipsy Pig. The gastropub is located in Capitol Commons, unhindered by the 10 PM business curfew of the residential area. In fact, Tipsy Pig opens at 11 AM and closes at 4 AM (or even 5 AM, according to one of their staff), and the place gets really packed from 9 PM to 1 AM!

As a pub, Tipsy Pig is known for their signature cocktails and brews, and their wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. As a restaurant, with Chef Rainier Barbers at the helm Tipsy Pig actually serves good food, doubling as great pulutan for late-night drinking sessions.
