Star Wars: Force Awakens has left viewers with not only a fresh look at the Star Wars franchise, but also opened up new questions and story line theories that reignited the force sensitive in many fans of the franchise.
Among these questions is this: Why does C-3PO, the Gold protocol droid familiar in the franchise, have a red arm in the Force Awakens?
Well, Marvel answered the question in a special one-shot titled Star Wars Special: C-3PO #1 (no major spoilers ahead.)
Pretty much the comic tells us in detail how C-3PO managed to get his arm lopped off in the midst of a mission for the resistance. And how C-3PO got the red Arm from a droid friend that sacrificed himself to save C-3PO.
So, he wears the red arm as a memento from his droid friend. Quite sentimental for a droid, but we still love him anyway.
