“It’s like you brought Paris to Manila!” said my blogger friend when she first saw the Christmas spread of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. She was right. The only French luxury hotel brand with a presence in five continents went all out this Christmas, with a large replica of the Eiffel Tower in the lobby, an even larger Christmas tree at Spiral, a magnifique show of lights, and a Christmas village featuring Christmas treats, including mulled wine and roasted chestnuts.

That was the scene at Le Bar as they formally launched the Christmas season. Le Bar was filled with the hotel’s partners, including WhenInManila.com, and we were awestruck at the annual lighting ceremony of the tree. The event coincided with the handover of its contribution to children in need through the Virlanie Foundation.
Apart from the Christmas tree, Sofitel also launched its Christmas promos and treats, and boy will it be merry.

Rooms Promotion
What way to better celebrate a French Christmas than to book a room in Sofitel? The holiday breeze is best felt standing on a room’s balcony, with a fantastic view of Manila Bay. Spiral
Spiral, one of Sofitel’s crowning glories is also part of the Christmas celebration. For the holidays, the buffet’s 21 dining ateliers will be highlighted by the 21-foot Christmas tree and decor reminiscent of the Champs-Élysées. But the Christmas spirit is not only in the decor, but the the food as well. There will be a holiday feast featuring glazed leg of ham, roast turkey with bread stuffing, rack of lamb, roast suckling pig porchetta, and the turducken, or turkey stuffed with duck, then stuffed with chicken and foie gras.
For drinks, Sofitel will offer Christmas butterbeer and Henriot Champagne for New Year’s. You may call Sofitel to know more about the other packages and schedules available!
To make the meal extra special, the Manila String Machine will serenade diners. For kids, Santa will make special rounds on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, from 6PM to 9PM.
Other activities include balloon twisting, cookie-making, countdown to the new year, balloon drop, and the annual fireworks display on New Year’s Eve.

The hotel bar is transformed into Marché de Noël, or Christmas Market. Here, you an buy mulled wine (a delicious wine boiled with honey, citrus fruits, star anise, and cinnamon), roasted chestnuts, gingerbread treats, sweet delicacies, and holiday eggnog. The overhead lights add a beautiful snow effect on the Christmas village, a collection of little holiday houses. You can also buy hand-painted decoration you can add to your own home and tree to have a French Christmas wherever you live!
On New Year’s Eve, an intimate dinner can be enjoyed from 6-10PM, while an afterparty with the DJ duo The Zombettes will ring in the new year from 11PM to 3AM.
Le Spa
Christmas is all about relaxation, and dozens of Christmas parties and gift-shopping. Sofitel offers the perfect respite with a series of massages, wraps, and anti-aging and intensive brightening home care products that will guarantee you to look fresh any time of the season.
