The province of Pampanga is a culinary melting pot of good food. It is home to some of the country’s best chefs and where the ultimate Pinoy favorite, sisig, originated. But you probably wouldn’t expect to discover good Tex-Mex food there as well, but hey, we did.
We stumbled upon Benjamin Tacos + Quesadilla in Pampanga and found ourselves in a delightful place with delicious Tex-Mex dishes to match!
Just in Lubao, Pampanga is a house that converts into a restaurant Thursdays to Saturdays. Stepping into Benjamin’s Tacos + Quesadilla either takes you back in time or makes you feel like you’ve landed into a really great “picker” backyard. Check out all the throwback stuff that definitely makes this place worth the stop, and eat!
First off is the dish that has really defined Benjamin’s from the start—its Quesadilla. The freshly made tortilla and the kind of cheese used makes it taste exquisite. Beautifully prepared on an iron slab makes it all the more tempting to devour. Priced at P100.
Then the Tacos! These freshly made deep-fried shells with Benjamin’s special ground beef, shredded lettuce, salsa with jalapeno, garlic and cheese sauces will definitely satisfy your taco craving. It’s bigger than the usual tacos you’d have in mind and, for me, tastes better too! Priced at P110.
My favorite though would be the Beef Barbeque which is boneless beef belly with a smoked flavor, smothered with succulent meat, rich liquid gravy, and served with garlic rice on the side. Very very satisfying at just P250.
And if you still can’t get enough of beef, the Roast Beef is an attractive plate of slow cooked beef with special savory sauce and served with rice. Priced at P218.
Carnitas is pulled pork FilMex BBQ prepared in a special way and served with flour tortilla. Everything’s made fresh so you know you’re getting a good one. Priced at P130.
Another good thing about Benjamins Tacos + Quesadilla is that when you ask for a hot sauce…they give you HOT SAUCES! It’s crazy. Go enjoy your TexMex food away with these!
Don’t forget to cap everything off with the Otap Crumble Cheesecake. A unique take on the favorite cheesecake using otap crumbles topped with sweet blueberries. Priced at P88.
Our stopover in Lubao, Pampanga was definitely worth it—all because of the taste and charm of Benjamin’s Tacos + Quesadillas. Take note again that it opens only Thursdays to Saturdays, which really are the perfect days to schedule an out of town visit with your friends & family here.
Benjamin also has a branch in Moderno Food Park, MacArthur Highway, San Fernando, Pampanga if you want to catch it Tuesdays-Sundays.
So there you go. On your next Pampanga culinary adventure, don’t forget to include Benjamin’s Tacos + Quesadillas in your itinerary.
