If you’re planning to visit Japan soon, here’s some good news: Filipinos traveling to Japan for a stay of up to 90 days can still avail themselves of a free temporary visitor visa.

The clarification came after Japan announced that it would update its visa fees for the first time in nearly five decades. Under the revised fees, single-entry visas will cost 15,000 yen (around P5,600), while multiple-entry visas will cost 30,000 yen (around P11,300), effective July 1, 2026.
“Please note that temporary visitor visa for stay within 90 days at maximum for Philippine Nationals remains as gratis,” the embassy said in an advisory.
In the same advisory, the Embassy encouraged applicants to apply well ahead of their intended travel dates due to the increasing number of visa applications.
“Please also note that Single-Entry visa for tourism purposes is valid for travel within 3 months from the date of issuance, so please be careful not to apply prematurely (not earlier than 3 months before the planned date of travel) and consult with the Visa Center when applying for the visa,” the Embassy said.
“The Embassy of Japan places great importance in strengthening the people-to-people exchange, which is a vital part of Japan and the Philippines bilateral relationship,” it added.
