Yes, Sharon Cuneta is set to play a major role in an upcoming US series called “Concepción.” And no, it’s not about and has nothing to do with the actress’ ex-husband, Gabby Concepcion. “Trabaho lang, walang personalan!” [This is all work, nothing personal!] The Mega Star joked to her fans.

Concepción, a US drama series, is about “an Asian-American kingpin and his extended crime family that lords over Historic Filipinotown (HiFi) in Los Angeles,” according to Hollywood news site Deadline. Involved in the project are Filipino-American actor Reggie Lee and producer Jeremiah Abraham, who brought ABS-CBN on board as their co-producer. The series will shoot parts of it in the Philippines.
Ruel S. Bayani, ABS-CBN’s head of International Production and Co-Production, teased about Cuneta’s part in the series: “She’s playing a major role at talagang ang ganda-ganda ng role, ang ganda ng script.”
Deadline, which first broke the story, wrote: “Concepción seeks to examine the world of an Asian-American crime patriarch, a world of drugs and money, but also heritage and pride, viewed through origins, history, choices and consequences.” Sounds exciting!
