Ryan Gosling Might Be Playing Lex Luthor in Stand-Alone Film

Fans have been speculating that Warner Bros. and DC are developing an Elseworlds series. Elseworlds is basically a publication imprint for DC Comics stories set outside of the comics canon. This includes Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie and is now apparently proceeding with Ryan Gosling as Lex Luthor.

According to Cosmic Book News, Gosling is in final talks to play the Superman supervillain. The reports circling the casting claims that Joe Wright will be directing the film.

It seems as if Warner Bros. is going to continue to develop movies adapted from DC Comics characters that won’t be a part of DCEU canon.

Gosling as Lex Luthor is definitely an interesting choice and would totally be different from Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex in Zack Snyder’s films. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the thought of having a separate Elseworlds series is definitely piquing DC fans’ interests.

We last saw Ryan Gosling on the big screen as Neil Armstrong in the 2018 film First Man. Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2019.
