The new revenge K-drama “Red Swan” has premiered on Disney+ today, July 3. It promises suspenseful twists and turns that will keep you guessing!

The cast is led by Kim Ha-neul as Oh Wan-soo and Jung Ji-hoon, popularly known as Rain, as Seo Do-yoon. In a press conference in Seoul, “Red Swan” was described as a “fatal scandal” of the series’ powerful conglomerate, Hwain Group, that will shake up the viewers. Sounds really interesting, right?

Intriguing Plot Involving Chaebol

If you’re looking for thrilling action, heart-pounding drama, and captivating mystery with a touch of romance, “Red Swan” is a great choice. What adds to the intrigue is its focus on uncovering the dark secrets of a chaebol, a powerful and wealthy Korean family.

“Red Swan” follows the story of Wan-soo, a professional golfer born into a poor family who ties the knot with the heir of Hwain Group, Kim Yong-guk, portrayed by Jung Gyu-woon, to clear her mother’s debts.

As she becomes a chairperson of a charitable foundation, a terrorist attack threatens her life. Her glamorous life shatters further after she finds out about her husband’s infidelity.

She crosses paths with Do-yoon, her newly appointed bodyguard skilled in martial arts. The latter joins Hwain Group’s security team with a hidden agenda: to avenge his friend who lost his life.

Their relationship gradually deepens as they discover unsettling truths behind the Hwain family, putting their lives in danger. The series’ unexpected twists and intense scenes will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat!

Stellar Cast and Performances

Aside from Ha-neul, Rain, and Gyu-woon, the cast includes Seo Yi-sook, Yoon Je-moon, and Ki Eun-se. Meanwhile, it is directed by Park Hong-kyun and written by Choi Yoon-jung.

At a recent press conference, Rain said he only has a few lines in the series, given his role as a bodyguard. However, he noted that he worked on maintaining a strong presence and aura to portray his character, which he achieved by setting the tone of his voice and expressing his emotions through his eyes.

Director Park commended his acting skills, emphasizing how he successfully pulled it off despite experiencing challenges in not having many lines.

Ha-neul, on the other hand, revealed that she meticulously studied the proper golfing posture to embody her role as a world-class golfer successfully. Unlike Rain, she’s more involved in dramatic scenes, delivering powerful lines that involve screaming, shouting, and crying.

Driven by desires and ambitions, each character sets a chain of events leading to shocking turns.

Some Parts Were Filmed in Manila

If you’ve already watched one of its teasers, you surely know that some parts of “Red Swan” were filmed in Manila. So, yes, you’ll get a glimpse of the country as you binge-watch this K-drama!

Wan-soo’s debut appearance as a Goodwill Ambassador happened in Manila. She then gets caught in the middle of a gunfire in Makati, where Do-yoon saves her. Shortly after the incident, Wan-soo begins to develop feelings for Do-yoon.
