Chicago is set in the Jazz Age and follows Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, two performers who face murder trials. They both compete for the services of lawyer Billy Flynn, a shady character who promises them both stardom and acquittals.

It premiered in 1975 with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. In 2014, it surpassed Cats to become the second-longest-running show in Broadway history.

Today, the 1996 revival has won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy.

A decade’s worth of shows

Concepcion is described as “an exciting and dynamic performer” and has “portrayed a wide array of characters and has consistently churned out electric performances” for over a decade.

He played the Engineer in the US National Tour and the UK and Ireland Tour of Miss Saigon from 2017 to 2020.

In the Philippines, he has starred in titles like Annie, West Side Story, Hairspray, The Normal Heart, Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady, Equus, and many more.

Concepcion won the Aliw Award for Best Actor in a Musical and the Gawad Buhay Award for portraying Adam and Felicia in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert.
