Razor Sports: The Grooming Bar for the Man’s Man

Razor Sports: The Grooming Bar for the Man’s Man

When in Manila, maintaining a good physique and wearing the snazziest outfits will no longer cut it (take it from me, a woman who’s seen quite enough!) Instead of spending too many hours at the gym or at your favorite clothing boutique, how about a little “me” time at a barber shop that knows exactly what a guy like you needs?

Enter Razor Sports: Men’s Grooming Bar, the haircare salon specializing in pampering the macho and the pogi.

Located on the 3rd floor of Trinoma Mall, Razor Sports: Men’s Grooming Bar offers an affordable menu of services for men and the ladies in their lives.

But then again, Razor Sports is not a beauty shop.

Although both sexes can receive pampering treatments at Razor Sports–and I’m not one to stereotype–the place is clearly designed for the more masculine, beer-chugging, iron-pumping crowd. With its gray concrete walls and hard lines and surfaces, the one-stop grooming bar has such a very masculine interior that I am slightly disturbed that I like it. The walls are covered with beautiful sketches of renowned athletes and funny one-liners about the male grooming profession, and the entire combination of seemingly contrasting design elements suddenly appeared to represent the personality of an average male.

Grooming products from L’Oreal, Bosley, iSkin and Orly. Prices range from Php535 to Php4,500.

Jersey shirts and trophies are on display. Yes, James Yap owns the place.

Curious to know what sort of services Razor Sports has to offer, I invited my youngest brother to come try out this new salon-slash-barber-shop one evening. Out of the list of services, my brother’s eyes went past the standard haircut and hair color items and went straight for a hair and scalp treatment and a facial.

“Hey, I’m as tall as James Yap!” Classic Erick Merioles.

Bosley Scalp Microdermabrasion (Php2,500)

Let’s see what Micheal Jordan should have had to avoid falling hair…

The Bosley Scalp Microdermabrasion is Razor Sports’ signature scalp treatment that exfoliates dead skin, unclogging follicles and allowing younger skin cells to surface. Like all of Bosley’s hair products, the Bosley Scalp Microdermabrasion treatment aims to improve scalp condition to encourage hair growth, reduce hair loss and make hair healthier and younger looking.

Specially designed for those suffering from thinning hair, this treatment involves Bosley’s Micro-Dermabrasion products that contain various ingredients to stimulate the production of keratin, exfoliate and cleanse the skin and condition hair. Bosley’s Strengthening Masque and Follicle Energizer are used, as well, to fortify each hair follicle with nourishing plant extracts.

A single treatment can suffice, but three treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended.

Each work station comes with an LED screen so customers can view the gallery of haircuts and watch sports shows right from the comfort of their barber chairs.

After about an hour, Erick’s Microdermabrasion treatment was over. We decided to try the facial after the treatment, as well, especially since the name itself promises a bevy of ladies swooning over my brother (not that he needs anymore ladies swooning) and it’s always better to save the best for last.
