Rabiya Mateo from Iloilo City is the winner of Miss Universe Philippines 2020. She will represent the country in the next edition of the Miss Universe pageant.
Mateo was also recognized as Best in Swimsuit.
She was joined by Billie Hakenson from Cavite (4th runner up), Pauline Amelinckx from Bohol (3rd runner up), Michele Gumabao from Quezon City (2nd runner up), and Ysabella Ysmael from Paranaque (1st runner up).
In the Q&A portion, the top 5 answered two questions, with the second one being the same for all contestants. The second question was, “The pandemic has made clear our priorities, essential or non-essential. Where do pageants stand in this time of crisis?”
This is the first pageant of the Miss Universe Philippines organization after the Miss Universe Organization ended its partnership with the Araneta Group and the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. The organization is led by Shamcey Supsup as the National Director, Albert Andrada as the Design Council Head, Jonas Gaffud as the Creative Director, Lia Ramos as Head of Women Empowerment Committee and Charity, Atty. Nad Bronce as Head of Legal Affairs, and Mario Garcia as Business Development/ Marketing Head.
This year’s judges are Miss Universe Philippines winners Janine Tugonon and Ariella Arida, fashion director Jackie C Aquino, Frontrow founder and CEO Sam Verzosa, ACT-CIS Representative Eric Yap, Raymond delos Santos, IPG Mediabrands Philippines CEO Venus Navalta, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Baguio first lady Arlene Magalong, and Procter & Gamble group director for media Arthur Peña.
