The Manila-based all-queer dance crew is once again set to represent the Philippines internationally after qualifying for Hip Hop International (HHI), one of the world’s most prestigious dance competitions. As they prepare to compete against elite crews from across the globe, Femme MNL is carrying more than routines and choreography with them. They are bringing stories, representation, and an entire community onto the world stage.
Femme MNL’s rise has already translated into major milestones on competitive stages. In 2025, Femme MNL became first runner-up at Pilipinas Got Talent and later emerged as World Champions at Dance Supremacy International, cementing their place among the country’s leading dance collectives.
What began as a group of queer friends creating dance videos together has evolved into one of the country’s most recognizable dance collectives. Through storytelling-driven performances and authentic self-expression, Femme MNL transformed viral dance content into a platform where many young Filipinos, particularly queer Filipinos, could see themselves reflected.
“We started as a group of queer individuals who simply wanted to dance together, but it grew into something much bigger,” said Jeff Haley Manalo of Femme MNL. “Representing the Philippines at Hip Hop International is an honor, and we hope our journey shows young LGBTQIA+ Filipinos that they can succeed without hiding who they are.”
Beyond the competition itself, Femme MNL’s journey reflects the growing visibility of LGBTQIA+ creatives in Philippine culture. This Pride Month, the crew’s rise from dance videos and friendship to Team Philippines serves as a reminder that authenticity, talent, and representation can thrive together on the biggest platforms.
As Femme MNL prepares to compete at Hip Hop International, the crew is seeking sponsors and partners to help bring Team Philippines to the world stage and support the continued visibility of Filipino LGBTQIA+ talent in international dance.
