The office of Senator Grace Poe just released a statement about the passing of Susan Roces this Friday evening. The mother of the senator and widow of Fernando Poe Jr. was 80 years old.

“With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved Jesusa Sonora Poe, whom many of you know as Susan Roces. She passed away peacefully on a Friday evening, May 20, 2022, surrounded by love and warmth, with her daughter Grace, her nephews Joseph and Jeffrey, and many of her family and close friends. She lived life fully and gracefully. Remember her in her beauty, warmth, and kindness. She is now with the Lord and her beloved RonnieโFPJ. We will miss her sorely but we celebrate a life well-lived. Susan Rocesโdaughter, mother, grandmother, a true Filipina, and a national treasure,” the statement read.

The veteran actress’ cause of death is not yet disclosed.
The Queen of Philippine Movies was born on July 28, 1941, and starred in her first movie “Mga Bituin ng Kinabukasan” in 1952 when she was nine. Since then, she has received 6 FAMAS wins including the “FAMAS Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2017, “Iconic Movie Queen of Philippine Cinema” in 2015, and “Huwarang Bituin in 2004”. Her most recent award was “Outstanding Star of the Century (Natatanging Bituin ng Siglo)” at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies in 2019.
