Raising a kid can be a tedious task. It is said to be the most difficult job in the world. And it really can be. However, with the right nutrition and guidance, it also can be easier.
Intelligence and success is not just the mastery of different subjects in school. It now has taken on a different meaning: Body Smart, People Smart, and Brain Smart. It also means recognizing the ability to be good at different activities and adventures that will result to a generation that has multiple intelligences.
“We continue to seek ways for parents and educators to recognize that developing multiple-intelligence is just as relevant as academic performance, giving kids today the chance to develop their inherent skills in a motivated and well-rounded environment,” said Rhea Villareal, Senior Product Manager of Progress Pre-School GOLD.
At Progress Pre-School Gold’s Multiple Intelligence Recognition Day held at RCBC Plaza, five Multi-Achievers were recognized. These kids are said to have multiple-intelligences being all Body Smart, People Smart, and Brain Smart.
Sofia Pablo, Cedric Rafael Uson, Seam Clarence Cai, Luis Raphael Danao, and Ciara Russegger are among the Multi-Achievers who have shown excellence in academics with equally impressive achievement in sports and relating with people, which prove that seamless integration of being brain, body, and people-smart is possible with the right support.
One of the speakers during the Recognition Day was Multi-Achiever Kim Atienza who shared his success story. He originally thought he had ADHD, but he realized that it was his way of discovering new things, which made him the Kuya Kim we all know today. “Multiple Intelligence has equipped me to confidently engage with the world and readily accept challenges with family, passions, and career,” said Kuya Kim.
Also presented at the event was Progress Pre-school GOLD’s multiple intelligence advocacies that partnered with the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP). RAP is a non-government organization committed to improve reading programs and teaching procedures in the nation.
Progress Pre-school GOLD salutes mothers who practice an innovative approach to parenting which helps mold children to be multi-intelligent. Mom attendees made an oath to be advocates of Multiple Intelligence and graduate to a higher standard of intelligence.
“As a parent, my challenge is to help my kids apply their knowledge to everyday life. Not just by getting good grades, but by being well-rounded individuals who are smart, creative, and helpful,” said Jenni Epperson, Multiple Intelligence advocate.
As another Multiple Intelligence advocate, Mikaela Lagdameo-Martinez, said: “With multiple intelligence, you don’t just go one step ahead. You go twice as far.”
