ALAMAT’s new album and era, Destino, are underway, and it’s time to secure the group’s most successful comeback yet.
Over the past four years, Pinoy pop (P-pop) fans have witnessed the six trailblazers of ALAMAT—Taneo, Tomas, R-ji, Alas, Mo, and Jao—explore a wide array of creative outlets and champion Filipino culture with their extensive discography. We should expect nothing less from their upcoming album this year.
Things are different this time, though, and not in the way most fans have hoped.
On August 24, 2025, ALAMAT gave fans a sneak peek into their highly anticipated comeback with individual teasers they released throughout the last week of the month. Naturally, Magiliws’ excitement and curiosity were at an all-time high.

However, much to fans’ surprise, ALAMAT took an unexpected step back from their usual highly conceptual and experimental teasers. Instead, the group journeyed inward with a mini docu-series that felt more like a “goodbye” than a “welcome back.”
Nervous and uncertain, each member discussed the possibility of moving forward as individual artists if their group endeavors don’t pan out well. This opened various interpretations of the teasers, as well as what Destino truly meant for ALAMAT’s future. Now, Magiliws are rising to the challenge despite their worries, making sure that this new album will be the group’s most fruitful era to date.
We’re manifesting, too, for a future that nurtures the boys’ craft and reassures fans that ALAMAT isn’t going anywhere. Here are all the opportunities that we hope are in store for the group throughout their Destino era.
Newfound Breakthroughs and Momentum
In 2022, ALAMAT released “Maharani,” the group’s most acclaimed hit to date. The song earned them awards, reached over 40 million streams, and marked the start of what should’ve been the group’s steady rise to long-term success.
What followed, however, were a few setbacks that made their music plateau despite consistently well-received new releases like “Day and Night,” “Dayang,” and “Hiraya.” While the members got to dabble in several artistic fields outside their wheelhouse, like acting, content creation, and even entrepreneurship, their recent songs didn’t reel in the same hype that helped them thrive in 2022. Views, streams, and engagement on their singles decreased, and they just weren’t as prominent as they used to be.

In Alas’ Destino teaser, for instance, he noticed that ALAMAT recently dropped to around 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, coming from over one million. Though disheartened, Alas and the rest of the group have remained hopeful that this comeback can and will help them regain the momentum of “Maharani’s” caliber.
Destino is the members’ and their fans’ chance to turn things around. The upcoming album, which Alas deems “make or break” for them, is their shot at claiming another much-deserved big break. They already reached new heights two years ago. Who says they can’t do it again this year, with more engaging promotions that keep the ball rolling?
How ALAMAT Tells Stories Worth Supporting
Where else can you find a boy group that can speak, sing, and rap in various regional languages? Each member of ALAMAT performs with a purpose, and they get that point across through every comeback they celebrate with their Magiliws.
In their second single, “Kasmala,” ALAMAT portrayed Filipinos rebelling against colonizers. The music video incorporated Philippine history into the group’s attire, backdrops, and choreography to honor the reclamation of our freedom. In “ABKD,” the boys championed self-confidence and diversity against stereotypes and dated beauty standards. Their collaboration with Lyca Gairanod, “ILY ILY,” tackles the plight of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) with melodies derived from the Ilonggo folk song, “Ili Ili, Tulog Anay.”

The Destino teasers have made it clear that ALAMAT doesn’t only excel in music. They’re well-rounded performers who are always on the lookout for opportunities to hone their craft.
Over the pandemic, Alas learned how to produce his own songs and even contributed to some of the group’s future tracks. Last year, Jao launched his clothing line, Space Station. Meanwhile, Tomas had his start as an actor and Pinoy Big Brother: 737 housemate before becoming one of the group’s main vocalists. Mo is in 100 Awit Para Kay Stella, the much-awaited sequel to 100 Tula Para Kay Stella, and soon, we’ll see Taneo in the second season of Ang Mutya ng Section E.
Although the boys are booked and busy individually, we also hope that Destino will bring in more major achievements for them as a group. We’re talking sold-out concerts, multiple awards, a wider local reach, more international praise, and, hear us out, their own variety show and full-length documentary.
This new era’s resounding success is the reassurance that ALAMAT needs to keep going as P-pop idols. There’s no better time than now to affirm that their passion, discipline, and efforts to overcome their struggles aren’t in vain.
Exciting P-pop Collaborations

ALAMAT has already participated in many iconic collaborations with their fellow artists. The Destino teasers, however, have made their presence in the P-pop scene all the more special.
ALAMAT’s P-pop friends resonated with each member’s compelling moments of courage and vulnerability. In their videos, Jao was candid about his journey as a person with disability (PWD), while Mo recalled his hardships in finding his footing in the industry. Tomas looked back on his trials by fire as an actor, and R-ji and Alas shared their financial struggles growing up independently.
Members of SB19 and KAIA expressed their support for ALAMAT by sharing and interacting with the group’s Destino teasers. SB19’s Pablo told Mo, “Tuloy-tuloy lang, brother,” while KAIA’s Angela applauded Jao’s bravery and reminded him that he’s “always loved and appreciated.” If these uplifting words don’t scream “P-pop rise,” we don’t know what does.
On September 1, 2025, ALAMAT released a new song with mrld called “Rock Baby.” Last year, the group teamed up with The Juans for “Gupit.” But why stop there? This Destino era, let’s get ALAMAT back onstage for show-stopping performances with their fellow P-pop hitmakers. The boys deserve all the recognition the world can offer, and it’s the least we can do for them after they endured multiple obstacles to their growth and artistry.
ALAMAT is a unique P-pop group in every sense of the word. The members’ distinct approaches to their music, style, and artistry always reveal stories rooted in their Filipino identities. Even back in their trainee days, they’ve taken pride in the country’s vibrant culture and extensive history. It’s only fair that we show them how proud Filipinos are of their efforts to bring P-pop to the world.
