Piolo Pascual Opens Up About Why He’s Still Single

In a recent interview with talent manager Ogie Diaz, heartthrob Piolo Pascual talked about his relationship viewpoints and why he chooses to remain single.

When he was asked if he doesn’t have time for love, the actor jokingly responded, “Ano ‘yun? (What is that?)” Then he recalled what a pastor told him, “Wala eh, lumaki ako, sabi ng pastor sa akin ‘mahirap yan pag nawili ka na mag-isa ka lang, pag nawili ka na wala kang kasama, baka masanay ka.’ (When I grew up, the pastor told me, ‘It’s hard when you like being alone and not having any company. You might get used to it.’ ) I think that’s what happened.”

“I’ve been single for so many years and it’s not something na, sometimes, of course, there are nights na sana may katabi ka pero I’m not the type na gusto kong may kasama. Nasanay akong ganito. Wala kang pinagrereportan. Wala kang kailangang uwian. (I’ve been single for so many years and it’s not something that, sometimes, of course, there are nights I wish to have someone next to me, but I’m not the type who wants company. I got used to it [being single]. I don’t have to update anyone. I don’t have to go home to someone.)” he explained.

However, Piolo clarified that he’s still open to finding love, maybe, when he gets a bit older.

Hindi ko siya ine-entertain and I don’t even see the point of being in a relationship because I’m busy. I’m booked until next year, so I don’t have time for it. Even if I want it, wala naman akong time, saan ko siya ilalagay? (I don’t entertain it and I don’t even see the point of being in a relationship because I’m busy. I’m booked until next year, so I don’t have time for it. Even if I want it, I don’t have the time, where should I include it in my schedule?)” he said.

The actor also mentioned that he wants to have another child in the future. “Tumanda man ako, puwede pa rin akong magkaanak. It’s just that for now, this is my priority and I feel na ang dami ko pang puwedeng gawin, ang dami ko pang gustong gawin na sana magawa ko before I settle down. (When I get old, I can still have a child. It’s just that for now, this is my priority and I feel like I can still do a lot of things, I hope to do a lot of things before I settle down.)”

Even a fling is not on his list, as he sees it as a waste of time and investment. “Wag naman ‘yung gamitan just because kailangan or just becasue gusto mo. Kung hindi ka naman makakapag-commit and you know na hindi mo kayang panindigan because you don’t have time for it, wag na lang. (Don’t take advantage just because it’s needed or just because you want it. If you can’t commit and you know you can’t take responsibility because you don’t have time for it, just don’t.)”

He emphasized how much he prioritizes his career and that he’s contented with the presence of his son, Iñigo, and his loved ones.

Piolo is part of the upcoming historical film GomBurZa, crime thriller film The Ride, and stage play musical Ibarra.
