Philippines Named as One of the Most Racist Countries in the World
Recent data from the World Value Survey shows that the Philippines is one of the most racist countries in the world.
This survey basically asked people what kinds of people they wouldn’t want to live near and then counted the amount of people who chose ‘people of a different race’ for each country. Apparently, societies, in which people wouldn’t want to live near other races are considered to be more racially intolerant.

The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Jordan and India in the top five.
While the country with the most racially intolerant people is Jordan, with 51.4% not wanting to live near another race, India is close behind with 43.5%. The Philippines lies in the 20 to 29.9% bracket along with other countries like Thailand, France, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Hong Kong; only below counties such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea in the 30-39.% bracket.
The most racially tolerant countries are mostly Western countries, such as Britain, Canada, Australia and the U.S. In fact, only 3.8% of U.S. residents are reluctant to live near another race.
What are your thoughts on this? Are we Filipinos really that racist?
Filipino society is very inward-looking almost to the extent of be xenophobic.
All the emphasis I hear is on how we the foreigner must understand Filipino culture but they make almost no effort to understand other cultures. Most of visitors have amusing stories about the ignorance and misconceptions of Filipinos with regard to other cultures. They also have what most observers would describe as a delusional perception about their position and importance in the world. I remember seeing an article in the paper where they claim to be the #2 country in the world for business English. I can only assume they rank the US number one and well all those other so called English speaking countries are “so slang”. If you ever watch their news there is almost no coverage of world events. Its almost all about what is happening in the Philippines. They also like to blame foreigners for anything adverse that happens. There are perhaps hundreds of rapes and murders occurring everyday in the Philippines (I don’t have figures but we will call that an educated guess) yet if a foreigner is involved in any such event it is guaranteed to get full news coverage and put forward as another example of how evil and depraved foreigners are compared to Filipinos. I could go on and on. So yes I would agree with the finding.

I agree. and we Filipinos are guilty on this.
It’s interesting that the comments are filled with both hate and love for one’s country.
I personally think its stupid to call whoever’s red or pale red on this list Racist based on that one survey question. So Racism is all about who you want to live next to now?
Also take into consideration that the dark blue areas? Yeah those places are the most racially diverse so its understandable that hey wouldnt exactly mind to live next to other races because there are so many of them there. If we’re going to assume the Philippines racist is it safe to assume that the US & Canada are racism-free?
It is because we are programmed to think that your color is different from the others. we can unlearn it by educating ourselves and get rid of this ignorance
