Philippines Named as One of the Most Racist Countries in the World
Recent data from the World Value Survey shows that the Philippines is one of the most racist countries in the world.
This survey basically asked people what kinds of people they wouldn’t want to live near and then counted the amount of people who chose ‘people of a different race’ for each country. Apparently, societies, in which people wouldn’t want to live near other races are considered to be more racially intolerant.
Philippines Named as One of the Most Racist Countries in the World
The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Jordan and India in the top five.
While the country with the most racially intolerant people is Jordan, with 51.4% not wanting to live near another race, India is close behind with 43.5%. The Philippines lies in the 20 to 29.9% bracket along with other countries like Thailand, France, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Hong Kong; only below counties such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea in the 30-39.% bracket.
The most racially tolerant countries are mostly Western countries, such as Britain, Canada, Australia and the U.S. In fact, only 3.8% of U.S. residents are reluctant to live near another race.
What are your thoughts on this? Are we Filipinos really that racist?

For my opinion,No,depends on the situations.I think us Filipinos, based our answer on that question because of what is happening in our country;for example like China is claiming one of our lands as theirs.Just think it as your neighbor takes some of your lot,so you literally get mad at them and if that continues, you don’t want them to be your neighbor. Also,I think we have don’t enough power to stand against them.Again, this is just an opinion.
Well, I have to agree. We Filipinos just care too much of our own practices & tradition. That some of us when we live or stay close to other races, we judge them, say things or even stay away because of the things we didn’t like about them. We do because we are not comfortable or mature enough to deal with them, like their hygiene, food, attitude, practices etc. We are friendly and hospitable yes! we talk to them, entertain them, we show them our hospitality, we treat them nice but when they turn back, that is when we hit them. Sad reality. I think that is something that we have gotten from our colonizers, we have adopted the treatment we’ve got for the longest time and now we’re the ones doing it. We get butthurt everytime we receive racism but we Filipinos are also being racist to others.
This is rather unfair (or rather an unfair question). Filipinos don’t really have a lot of experience with foreigners (or at least, the whole spectrum of foreigners) in our country. Yes, we go to foreign countries and whatnot, but we don’t have a polish community, an african community, a slavic community here well enough to know about them, and to be exposed to such cultures. Maybe instead of saying we’re racially intolerant, we’re just being cautious?
This is an awful clickbait headline. There are substantially better articles by the Washington Post which offers insight onto things like racial and ethnic conflict, area migration, historical context and economic factors.

I really hope the editor who let this through reconsiders letting poorly researched posts like this again.
Actually, Philippines is in the 20-29,9% bracket. 🙂 My experience is Filipinos are very polite and friendly to Joes like me. I think a lot of Western people simply want to suck up to political correctness anyway, Filipinos don’t have too much of that and just say what they really think.
