Philippines Named as One of the Most Racist Countries in the World
Recent data from the World Value Survey shows that the Philippines is one of the most racist countries in the world.
This survey basically asked people what kinds of people they wouldn’t want to live near and then counted the amount of people who chose ‘people of a different race’ for each country. Apparently, societies, in which people wouldn’t want to live near other races are considered to be more racially intolerant.

The global social attitudes study claims that the most racially intolerant populations are all in the developing world, with Jordan and India in the top five.
While the country with the most racially intolerant people is Jordan, with 51.4% not wanting to live near another race, India is close behind with 43.5%. The Philippines lies in the 20 to 29.9% bracket along with other countries like Thailand, France, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Hong Kong; only below counties such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea in the 30-39.% bracket.
The most racially tolerant countries are mostly Western countries, such as Britain, Canada, Australia and the U.S. In fact, only 3.8% of U.S. residents are reluctant to live near another race.
What are your thoughts on this? Are we Filipinos really that racist?
Truth of the matter is, there is racism and discrimination in each one of us, doesn’t matter what nationality you are, it’s a matter of perception and this where open mindedness and acceptance come into play. In my opinion “ignorance” isn’t synonymous with “racism” and “discrimination”. I am of Filipino descent and proud of it but having lived overseas, I have learnt to embrace the good in both cultures and throw away the bad.

kagaya ng nagyayari sa bangayan ng Government ng China at Pilipinas.. pati mga Filipino-Chinese dinadamay ng kapwa nila Filipino. Yung mayayayamang Filipino Chinese hinuhusgahan na agad, Its unfair. Filipino Nationality sila from Chinese ancestry lang. Anong kaibahan ng Filipino-American sa Chinese-Filipino sa Pilipinas. Masakit na ipagtabuyan sila dahil sa conflict na in the first place hindi namn sila dapat madamay.
Mula pagka-bata palang. Exposed na tayo sa racism, so I’m really not surprised. As kids, tinuruan at tinakot na tayo na “Kapag lumabas ka ng bahay, kukunin ka ng BUMBAY” Dun palang, makikita mo sa parenting mali na.
I think the way we think ” WHITES are better than DARK skinned people”. Is a racist thing… and lots of kids laugh at Indian pupils in school… lots of viewers make fun of foreigners who cant speak English well like Ryan Bang, and most Filipinos just dont like dark skinned people… IT’s A STRANGE WAY OF THINKING. We actually think that WHITE skinned people are better than us–tan skinned Filipinos (And that’s a RACIST thing.) Kaya … OO marami sa atin ay RACIST. At nakakairita talaga.
