Circulating on Facebook right now is this photo of a Quarterly Exam for a Filipino class in a school in Quezon City. The first part of the exam seems to be a “Reading Comprehension” test with a paragraph about GMA’s hit TV skit on Eat Bulaga called “KalyeSerye” starring Yaya Dub, Alden Richards, Lola Nidora and more.
It gives a brief description on what the hit TV skit is about and the achievements it obtained on social media and television. Followed by questions about the student’s comprehension on the reading.
Do you think it is appropriate to have school material of this sort? Let us know what you think!

There’s nothing wrong with this.sometimes teachers are just being creative in making examinations. Reading comprehension is just being tested and the story is real based story that students can comprehend. Doesn’t mean that story is all about kalye serye, its cheap and degrading, no.. what is wrong in this examination are grammars. This is simply like giving my students a reaction paper, asking them to watch a movie and do a reaction paper..like..who are the main characters? What lessons have you learned? etc…Remember they are grade 2 students only…hindi naman nila alam kung politics ang ibibigay mong test diba? Do they care about politics? puwede rin si pagong at si Buwaya…but in this case, in my own opinion…ok lang yan.
I don’t see anything wrong with that. Reading comprehension naman yan. Ginamit nila yung aldub as topic para mas matuto/maintindihan ng mga bata yung exam. Based on some of the comments here, some people failed their reading comprehension tests. 😛
reading comprehension lang ms. I’m not a fan of Kalyeserye but heck, please review the picture. reading comprehension siya. it’s not really about Kalyeserye. punyete ene be yen ang OA
