Ogetsu Hime: Experience the “Best of Japan” at Half the Price!
If you thought that you’ve had enough of the same old sushi and sashimi, or if you’re searching for a new contender for the Top 3 Japanese Restos in Manila, Ogetsu Hime brings us mortals the best of authentic Japanese cuisine at – wait for it – HALF THE PRICE.
Restaurateur VJ Villavicencio has done the unexpected to his latest project restaurant. Up until December this year, he’s giving a whopping 50% discount to some of the best dishes in Ogetsu Hime. Crazy, right?
Not to Mr. Villavicencio as he believes it’s about time more people experience high quality authentic Japanese cuisine.
“What’s the use of being able to serve the best food if only a handful can afford them, ‘di ba? With the help of Carmina and other business friends, I initiated this, the “Best of Japan”, so that we can bring quality food from Japan at an affordable price.”
Ogetsu Hime, which means “goddess of food” in Japanese, specializes in sushi, teppanyaki, and sukiyaki. Through their limited edition “Best of Japan” offering, your craving for authentic Japanese food just got easier to get with 50% off from the original price. The menu highlights dishes that contain Matsusaka beef (known for its marbling and being flavorful, juicy, and tender), otoro (premium bluefin tuna belly), hamachi (Japanese yellowtail), and amebi (Hokkaido sweet shrimp), as well as anago (saltwater eel), hotategai (Hokkaido Japanese scallops), and engawa (Japanese halibut).

The pride of Ogetsu Hime is nothing else but their Matsusaka Japanese Black meat. According to the menu, it has the “incomparable excellence of the black-haired Kuroge Washu or “Japanese Black” from the cattle regions of Matsusaka, Mie, Japan hailed as one of the world’s best cattle meat.” When we got to taste the meat itself through the Matsusaka Sukiyaki and the Matsusaka Teppanyaki, I kid you not when we say it was the BEST cattle meat we have ever let our mouths chew. A true testament to the phrase “incomparable excellence”.
The MATSUSAKA SUKIYAKI meat in its raw (glorious) form
The glass noodles, mushroom, and vegetables of the MATSUSAKA SUKIYAKI are cooked after the meat is done, unlike the Philippine culinary tradition of cooking the meat along with the noodles, vegetables, and other ingredients.
Behold! The MATSUSAKA TEPPANYAKI, which we savored until the very last piece because that is the highest form of respect we can give this form of culinary art.
Don’t mistakenly think that these are the only ones Ogetsu Hime has to offer, though, because they also offer a whole lot MORE (like the Ebi Shiitake Tempura and the Uni Tempura below). All you have to do is pay the resto a visit, and, as they say in the movies, “let the magic unfold”.

Now is the right time and the best opportunity to dine at Ogetsu Hime and enjoy Japanese cuisine at its finest while it’s still at half the price. The food not only transcends the definition of “authentic”, but the place itself is commendable, too. The modern yet simple ambiance suggests friendliness to the customers through its open kitchen where the chefs make your food while you watch. The waitresses are also very accommodating and knowledgeable about what the food is, how they are cooked, and why they are prepared in such a meticulous manner.
Ogetsu Hime, awesome price cut aside, is true to its promise of premium quality and incomparable authenticity.
