New Avicii music is being released a year after the Swedish DJ’s death

Electronic dance music (EDM) star Avicii, also known as Tim Bergling, passed away nearly 1 year ago. He took his own life just as he was about to complete a new album. His family has decided to release the collection he left behind and share it with his fans all over the world.

Virgin/EMI Records, Avicii’s label, released a statement on this new release:

When Tim Bergling passed away on April 20th 2018, he was close to completing his album. He left behind a collection of uncompleted songs along with notes, emails and texts about the unreleased music. Tim’s family have decided to share this music with his fans across the world.

We are releasing the music Tim was working on before his passing. ‘SOS’ features long time collaborator Aloe Blacc, and is the first track to be released from the album ‘Tim’. ‘SOS’ will be released on April 10th, with the album ‘Tim’ being released on June 6th.

The profits from the album, ‘Tim’, will be going to the Tim Bergling foundation. Its advocacies include suicide prevention and mental illness.
